Welcome to MoonBeans, a specialty coffee roastery and café that has proudly served the Rio Grande Valley for over 25 years. As a family-run business, we craft-roast ethically sourced beans infused with our rich traditions. Whether you enjoy our “cafecito” in our local café or brew it at home, we believe it has the power to bring people together one cup at a time.
As a Puerto Rican-Mexican-American business situated on the border of Texas and Mexico, our cultural heritage is evident in every roast. When you enjoy our coffee, you become part of our story. Our original company slogan is, “Once you've Bean, you’ll be back,” and we still believe in that sentiment. We can’t wait to welcome you back after you've experienced the joy of MoonBeans.
Our Story
MoonBeans was born out of passion, heartache, and a leap of faith.
After a personal family loss, our founder, Luis, left behind a long-time aviation career, cashed out his savings, and opened one of the first specialty coffee shops in the Valley, back when coffee culture in the area was still in its infancy.
After 18 months of hands-on research from Seattle to the East Coast, he studied small businesses, learned the roasting process, and mastered the art of brewing, as well as repairing espresso machines. It was never about getting rich. It was about creating something meaningful and rooted in community.
Today, his son Emilio carries the torch as Director of Operations, infusing the roastery with a new generation of creativity, specialty coffee education, and la mera buena vibra.
From ethically sourced, slow-roasted beans to warm cafecitos shared in our shop, every cup we serve reflects puro corazon.
